Saw Kerf

Saw kerf skins are planks that retain the original saw marks produced in a mill that was using a circular saw. In many cases, kerf marks form a very distinct pattern, which can be useful from a number of perspectives. In home design, the marks are sometimes used to create a feeling of hand-hewn planking. When the “teeth” of a saw would break it would put the mark in the wood. All wood today is cut with a band saw rather than a circular saw leaving this weathered patina one of a bygone era. The species of saw kerf skins are pine or oak with color tones of lighter greys or honey tones.
